From Promise to Possession
Prayer Emphasis Week March 2026
“Not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed;
every promise has been fulfilled.” — Joshua 23:14
As a church, Calvary was drawn into this powerful truth during the Prayer Emphasis Week from 8–14 March 2026, anchored on the theme “From Promise to Possession”. Just as Joshua declared God’s faithfulness to Israel, Calvarites were reminded that every promise from God calls for a response of faith.
For Israel, it meant stepping forward in obedience—crossing the Jordan, consecrating themselves, and trusting God in action. In the same way, as a church, we were invited to participate in God’s promises through faith-filled obedience.

Throughout the week, the daily Scriptural meditations brought us alongside the journey of God’s people in the book of Joshua. We saw how God works in every season—battles and setbacks, failures and victories, waiting and consecration—to accomplish His purposes. The same God who went before Joshua continues to go before us today, leading us faithfully into all that He has promised.
A total attendance of 550 was recorded across the Tuesday morning, Wednesday evening, and Friday overnight prayer gatherings. Together, we stood on the promises of Scripture that define who we are as the Church, while also revisiting prophetic words and exhortations spoken over Calvary Church throughout the years.
The inaugural Tuesday morning prayer emphasis meeting
During our Tuesday and Wednesday gatherings, we reflected on the word given through Reverend Dick Eastman in 1988 —that Calvary is to be a fountainhead church. We were reminded of the seven pillars of a lighthouse church with global impact, calling us to intercede and realign with God’s vision and purpose for Calvary.
On Friday night, our overnight prayer meeting began with remembrance—tracing God’s faithful hand in building Calvary Convention Centre (CCC). What began as a vision in the heart of our late Senior Pastor Prince Guneratnam in the mid-1980s has, by God’s grace and provision, become a reality. Thirteen years on, since taking possession of CCC, we continue to stand as a testimony of God’s unwavering faithfulness.
In January of 2025, Calvarites were stirred by a timely word shared by Pastor Rachel Bulan—that God desires to do a new thing in Calvary Church, and the key is in beholding Him—for as we behold Him, we are transformed. We also recalled the exhortation given by Julius Suubi during the Prayer Conference in July 2024, highlighting the generational ministry flowing from Calvary Church.

Experiencing the tangible presence of God in worship
In faith, we pressed on in prayer, believing to see every unfulfilled promise move from declaration to reality. As we prayed, we experienced God’s tangible presence and the beauty of intergenerational unity, with each generation praying over one another. We were reminded that the fulfilment of God’s purposes is not carried by one generation alone, but shared across the entire body of Christ. Together, we also lifted up our pastoral team, Church Council, and leaders—committing them to the Lord as they lead the church forward.

| Lifting one another up in warm embrace | Bowing in intercession |
The overnight prayer meeting concluded with a time of intercession for families, declaring that Christ is the immovable Rock upon which our homes are built. The prophetic words given by Cindy Jacobs and Harold Caballeros over our children and youth in 1994 and 1996, respectively, stirred in us a renewed burden to pray that they would rise as a godly influence in our nation and beyond. We contended earnestly for every household, believing for breakthroughs, reconciliation and a lasting spiritual legacy.
From Promise to Possession is not merely a catchphrase or buzzword — it is a journey we are stepping out in faith to walk together. May we continue to be a people who pray, trust, and hold fast to His Word, confident that every promise He has spoken will be fulfilled in His perfect time, for His glory.
