On Sunday & Monday, 12 and 13 October 2025, the Young Seniors of Calvary Church came together in unity of heart for a retreat at the quaint Millennia Village, Seremban. It was an opportunity not just to build relationships, exchange stories, and experience the warmth of community, but a time for reflection, and spiritual renewal.

The world often views aging as a descent—a time of decline and fading relevance. But the Bible, anchored in the truth of God's enduring nature, paints a radically different picture: it is a time of spiritual ascent and flourishing. The psalmist gives us this incredible promise: those who are planted in the Lord will "still bear fruit in old age; they will stay fresh and green." This isn't just wishful thinking; it's a guarantee of spiritual vitality.

To be "fresh and green" means our lives maintain a life-giving quality. The fruit we bear may change, shifting from the energy-driven work of youth to the wisdom, mentorship, and quiet service of maturity. Look at the example of Ruth, a woman whose later years were defined not by productivity,
but by presence, prayer, and purpose.

Psalm 92:15 reassures us of God's reliability. We can stand on His eternal commitment: "Even to your old age I will be the same, and I will bear you up when you turn grey" (Isaiah 46:4). Because
of His faithfulness, our final season can be one of deep fulfilment, where we "come to the grave in full vigour" (Job 5:26). You are never too old to grow, to serve, or to be a vibrant witness.

The Young Seniors had a blast at their retreat– lots of fun, fellowship, and of course, photographs and food! The many photos taken are a visual testament to a generation that continues to lead with love, laughter, and grace.

God invites those of us who are no longer spring chickens to see this season not as fading, but as
flourishing. “Lord, Thank You for the gift of every season. Teach me to see my life not as a fading,
but as a flourishing that testifies to Your goodness. Help me trust You more deeply, serve others more freely, and live each day with gratitude and grace. Amen.”
