Moving from Conviction to Action

Love God, Love People Conference 2026

Written by Amy Tan Loh Mei

For three consecutive years, the Love God, Love People Conference has stood as a testament to what happens when believers commit to prayer and allow God to lead every step of the planning.

What began as a conviction has steadily grown into a movement, with a grand total of 573 attendees gathering at Theatrette 3, Calvary Convention Centre (CCC), on Monday and Tuesday, 24–25 August 2026.

The numbers tell only part of the story. On the first night, 338 participants filled the hall with expectant hearts, while 235 returned on the second day, eager to continue the journey. Yet behind these figures lies something far more significant: a people hungry to move beyond passive belief toward active, costly, and transformative love.

The Anatomy of Love
This year's speaker, Rev. Dr. Vincent Leoh—former General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Malaysia—delivered five powerful plenary sessions that challenged the church to embrace love as both doctrine and daily practice. Drawing from deep biblical scholarship and pastoral wisdom, Pastor Vincent unpacked three dimensions of divine love that every growing disciple must embody.

Kinetic Love opened the conference with a compelling truth: God always moves first. The Greek concept of kinesis reminds us that biblical love is not passive but active and initiating. Just as the father ran to meet the prodigal son, God continually takes the first step toward us and calls us to do the same for others.

Kenotic Love invited participants to embrace the cruciform life. Through Philippians 2:5–11, we were challenged to practise self-emptying, moving away from transactional faith toward genuine vulnerability alongside the marginalised.

Pneumatic Love highlighted the Holy Spirit’s disruptive power, urging the church to cross social, generational and cultural barriers. This was not comfortable teaching—but it was necessary.

Breaking Barriers
Pastor Vincent's session on "Horizontal Sabotage" proved particularly arresting. Examining the parables of the Good Samaritan and the Samaritan Woman, he called believers to dismantle personal biases and subcultural walls. Who are the "Samaritans" in our daily spheres? The question lingered long after the session ended.

The plenary teachings culminated in a vision for "The Radical Love Revolution"—an invitation to embrace what Pastor Vincent called the "liturgy of the mundane." Moving from the altar to the towel (John 13), and from the fire to the table (Acts 2), we were called to anoint the rhythms of daily life with Christlike service.

Breakthrough Prayer & Corporate Declaration, led by Pastor Richard Yun
A powerful turning point in the conference occurred during the Breakthrough Prayer, led by Pastor Richard and accompanied by a video featuring Pastor Solomon Bulan. Believers surrendered distractions to return to their first love, prayed for simple daily obedience and committed to carrying Christ’s presence into their homes and workplaces. The congregation then stood as one body, declaring their shared resolve to be a community that loves God deeply, loves people well and ushers in city-transforming revival.

Tune-In Talks: Faith in Motion
One of the conference's most deeply moving moments came through the Tune-In Talks—short, powerful testimonies showing how ordinary believers fine-tune their lives to God's heart of love:

  • Mandy Chew shared how the simple truth of John 3:16 transformed a family living in a low-income housing community, turning their home into a place of peace.
  • Alina Sim thank God for the discipleship ministry who had persevered patiently in reaching out to her for seven years, culminating in her family’s baptism and active service.
  • Alice Goh revealed how God’s blueprint breaks down our pride, transforming outreach into movements that cross boundaries.
  • CT Lim showed how God multiplies small offerings, turning food aid into deep friendships and inspiring Pakistani groups within Calvary to reach out to other Pakistani families.

Stepping Forward
As Pastor David closed the conference, participants left equipped with three practical directives: Let It Go, Don’t Let Go and Let Us Go. They were challenged to release what hinders God’s purposes, persevere faithfully in what He has entrusted to them and move forward together to fulfil His mission.

To God be all the glory for two empowering and transformative days at CCC. The conviction has been clear; now the action begins.
