Calvary Youth Day 2026
Sunday, 9 August 2026, marked a powerful milestone in the life of Calvary Church as we gathered for our annual Youth Day Service. From Gen Zeal in 2025 to Homeground this year, the atmosphere carried one clear and resounding message: You belong here.
There’s a feeling everyone knows but few can name - the feeling of walking into a room, letting your shoulders drop, no longer needing to perform, and hearing someone call your name and say they are glad to see you, and truly mean it. In that moment, you know you are home. Youth Day 2026 was designed to be that very place for every young person who walked through our doors.
You belong here
Months of collaborative planning between Calvary Youth, Royal Rangers, Missionettes and One Voice culminated in a seamless showcase of unity. Together, we declared: WE ARE CALVARY YOUTH!
Welcome teams, comprising regular youth and leaders alike, lined the entrance from the main doors to the auditorium, warmly greeting newcomers and handing out welcome packs stocked with ministry information and snacks. Early arrivals were ushered to the dedicated youth seating sections and seated near connectors, who welcomed them and helped them feel at home.
The sanctuary came alive as young people took charge of every aspect of the service, from ushering and announcements to audiovisuals. Every element was handled seamlessly by the younger generation, while Victoria Choi, together with the One Voice ensemble, led a powerful worship experience.
The sermon shared by Calvary Youth Pastor, Michael Loon unpacked the core truths surrounding identity challenges and the orphan heart, a mindset that began when Adam and Eve doubted the Father’s love (Genesis 3:1). This mindset has permeated the human heart and been passed down through the generations to us today.
The message also featured a short film telling John and Cindy Yong’s story of restoration. The siblings’ journey from abandonment to acceptance and belonging reminded the congregation that the Father has never stopped pursuing His children. God invites us to live loved, not as servants labouring in His house, but as sons and daughters at His table. It is not enough simply to tell people they belong; they need to be embraced until they believe it.
The young people then received a heartfelt prayer from Church Overseer Sister Petrina Guneratnam and presented a special song titled “Celebration,” celebrating all that God has done in and through our young people. Additionally, the entire church body was encouraged to pray for, mentor and journey alongside the next generation.
Following the service, while the rest of the church family gathered in the Plaza and Foyer for the usual warm fellowship over refreshments, the young people adjourned to the Multipurpose Hall for dedicated Youth Connection activities.Transformed into an exuberant hub where both newcomers and regulars could plug directly into where they felt they belonged, the Multipurpose Hall buzzed with vibrant energy. Young people enjoyed snacks and cooled off with fresh bingsu from Snowflake, mingled over interactive bingo games and captured instant keepsakes with friends and leaders at the Polaroid photo booth. Announcements showcased upcoming camps and connect groups, offering clear next steps for anyone looking to make Calvary their homeground.
Youth Day 2026 reaffirmed that young people are not merely the church of tomorrow, but a vital part of Calvary Church today. We praise God for bringing His sons and daughters home, and we look forward to growing deeper in faith together. Calvary Church is truly a church for all generations! To God be all the glory!
